Growing up in ice and snow, I never saw anything even close to this.

Was talking with a co-worker that is based in the Bay Area today.  Her daughter will graduate with a degree in comics from an art school there this spring.  The school just announced that it is closing and they are worried that will taint the value of the degree.  The kid has wracked up about $300,000 in loans.  I didn't know that such a degree even existed.  I could see maybe taking a couple of drawing classes at a community college and then start pumping your stuff out and see if you can make a go of it.   What kind of classes would they offer - Explorations in Why Woodstock Flies Upside Down or Hidden Family Circus Fascism?   Seems to me if you have talent, you have talent -  go put it work.  If you don't have talent, no amount of coursework is going to give you any.

After five winters in the Upper Peninsula, I thought I was a winter bad ass.  Then was driving through Wyoming one summer and found they have these gates they shut the Interstate with that had signs that saying "Closed.  Return to Laramie".  Never say nothing like that before - I can't imagine how bad the drifting would have to be to put something like that in place.

Interesting. $300k for a degree not guaranteed to be lucrative or marketable seems like dubious adulting.

As an artsy-fartsy girl who changed her major from a BFA to a BS … my guess is twofold. 1- most Fine arts degrees are still pretty snobby. My profs would have never let me get a passing grade turning in that sort of artwork- even with technical mastery. 2- it probably involves aspects of production/writing/visual storytelling that would not be found in a normal BFA drawing art degree.
There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

It’s not fun to get stuck behind a closed gate either- ask me how I know. Here we call them ground blizzards- it only takes a couple of inches of snow in a bad wind to bring visibility to zero.

I was a fish tank guy for a long time and if i was to become neglectful of my tank duties for an extended period of time that is exactly what the water would have looked like.

Do they taste good?
They’re tiny…so you’d have to eat a lot of them.
My son asked the same question
