@PB @Walks_At_Night Hey, are either of you two a white Southerner acting in support of the reconstruction governments after the American Civil War often for private gain?

Asking for an asshole.  8)

Jesus, they aren’t THAT old  :o
There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

Oh, speak of the asshole. ;)

I was not suggesting that they either of the gentlemen in question were actually there!  The use of the word "after" would imply this.

Well, I've never been to the South (or Mid-West, East Coast, Texas, or even Las Vegas).  Am I missing out on personal riches?

Barking up the wrong tree with us man. The Paper Boy is a Golden Bear from sunny California and I'm not a Southerner - not really. Even though I've lived here for decades.  Getting closer to acceptance perhaps though. I've got a tale to write up about a recent outing with my neighbor Rufus going to pick up some Sea-meant Bawrs. Of course he doesn't know that a WAN ancestor fell at the Battle of Chickamauga
which was quite the nightmare for Billy Yank.

I know.  While searching the actual definition of a Scallywag (show related) one of the appropriate applications for such a word was to apply it to (see screenshot) The other definitions were funny but that one was packed right in there all serious like.

Huh.  I would have guessed scallywag was a pirate thing.

My family moved to a small farm in about 1720.  Middle Georgia. Never owned slaves. In 1865 Stoneman's cavalry snatched my 5-year old great grandfather off of the family's only horse, took it and burned the crops.  Scallywag government took over and with no horse and no crops, family was  not able to make the tax assessment and lost the farm.  My grandfather grew up as a sharecropper. One 900 pound bale of cotton paid the annual rent.

Not much different that the corporatists today.
