I don't have anything against either board. I don't know either MV or Bart personally. I'm sure both have their own reasons for doing what they will, as everyone does.

I think this whole drama with ellgab, bellgab, Heather Wade, Art Bell, and everything else may hinge on the actions on one Richard C. Hoagland.

RCH could be the glue that sticks everything together.

Will he rise to the occasion?

Unfortunately, I think not.

If RCH gets involved he will likely just gum up the works.

I really don't know what the future of BG will be.  I have seen great forums shrivel and die.  Even when there are excellent posters- if there is not enough new material each day to make it a "must visit" site, it can dry up.  I hope both boards continue...

A forum needs conflict to be sustaining. And by that I mean a struggle within the membership, not an old man quitting his radio job every two or three years, or another (former) member losing her shit and becoming a walking freakshow. There was some conflict when Heather had her white knights on the board, but that's long over with.

An overmoderated site (which this or Bellgab isn't) will create tension between management and the community, which I suppose is more fun than a bunch of people getting along. That's not good television and it's not good drama.

Oh I agree. Senda is gold for any web admin-- a moneymaker for everyone but his fat self.

It will never happen, but I wish I could see the Google analytics... the sheer dollars and cents of how much the Falkie thread earned, the percentage of monthly hits, return visitors, unique visitors, daily visitors, cost per click, all that stuff. And then the Falkie thread was also driving traffic to UFOShip. My understanding is that you need 10,000 page views per month to earn $100. At its height the Falkie thread -alone- was pulling that. As far as MV's bottom line, Anthony "George" Senda was one of the best things that ever happened to Bellgab.
