What criminal charges could Vara even file? From what I've seen, he's the one making physical threats to people. He can't file a complaint for gabbers posting information that's in the public domain.

I don’t recall if I ever owned that domain name, but obviously never used and quickly abandonded it. I do recall also, that the Chinese were very keen on picking up expired domains to try to exploit any popularity the old site had.

Good point on the Chinese buying sites.  A few years ago I was passing through Boise, the talk of the town was some city hall website that was allowed to expire (they simply forgot to renew it).  The address  got bought and turned into a porn site (I think it was eastern Europe in origin).  The city was helpless to fix it and was overwhelmed with complaints (I think it was a city next to Boise - I actually forgot about it until your post reminded me of the event).
