In reflection, I also ask of BG's unwritten code that nobody was ever supposed to ever make real friends to meet away from the site. Almost a forced limit acquaintance isolation. Like there was a concept of remaining neutral for tomorrow one may be a foe. Worse than some ancient warrior code or prison camp in some ways. Just because the rules were not written doesn't mean there were unwritten ones that were enforced quietly in the night arbitarily.

When the site closed nobody knew how to connect, it was like a village that was bombed and people were looking for twitter reports!! Can you believe it?
Shut down as it was, he did not care. We were an old toy that lost its amusement. As for his words to restore a copy of the site, they are hollow fruit and probably will always be this way. Meaningless placation for to save a moment. A word of warning to all who may worship MV. Do not love what never loved you in the slightest in the first place. Anyone who has actually spoken with Peter knows how funny and charming he is in real life. It just doesn't translate to a post. When you think of Peter, think of Basil Fawty. That's who he is channeling. He's called into the Gabcast in the past and was perfectly amicable.

i agree that tone policing is retarded. Bart gave his reason for sending Jackstar to the zoo. personally, i don't really care if Jack stays or goes. however, that's not up to me.

If someone is an extraordinary Jack Ass, I say let them have ass then. Bart should lock them up in a thread with only Richard Groyper. Pure unadulterated eating of Richards ass may be the trick. When they show that they can behave, give them an R.C. Cola to wash the ass taste out of their mouth.

I've never felt suppressed by offensive speech.  I've felt challenged by it, and challenge is good IMO.

If so, you might want to check with a collector if the ornament is not a Heirloom. It could be worth some money.

Here's my unsolicited comments:

I don't mind opposing opinions and think they are a positive contribution when in a discussion. At Bellgab, it wasn't offering an opposing position, it was a smackdown. The sole purpose seemed to be just that. No discussion or dialogue. Just ream the poster for the sake of reaming and move on to the next victim. If that is funny to you then maybe Ellgab isn't for you.

Please fact check me as some of this is just my opinion. With regards to Bellgab and what happened. Why did MV switch to a donation model? Why do you think he didn't go back to Adsense when the forums ignited after Art's death? The Bellgab domain was banned by Google. Probably for all of the previous and current postings and debauchery and "free speech" that was going on. To add insult to injury, the donations were not enough to cover expenses. In other words, it was costing MV real money every month. How frustrating would that be?

Like some of you have stated, this is Bart's playground and his rules. He has to do what he feels is best for the interests of Ellgab. So far I like this better. Some people may prefer the old Bellgab and that's fine. This isn't Bellgab.
