Art seemed burned out on Para, made me wonder if he really always wanted to stay in politics.  Seemed like he moved on and didn't really care to do it anymore, sort of like MV moving on from Bellgab. I thought maybe after the election he'd get interested in Para again, but he proved me wrong.   Also, I think in his last interview (Bell Philes, June 2016 Jazmunda, its on youtube), there was a rather fast comment by Art that he didn't believe in ghosts.  That comment made me think he was just tired of it.

I think Art went in phases. Politics for a while, para for a while, back to politics, etc. Even when he was knee deep in para from the mid-90s on, he still had a lot to say about politics all the time. That never really went away on his shows. I believe he did grow bored doing politics only and switched to para, but there's no doubt he loved politics/current events, as evidenced by how much of it he had on his shows and posted on FB.

And yes, I heard that Bell Philes episode and remember Art being asked if he believed in ghosts and said no. I was shocked. My take (and I could be wrong) was he had converted to Catholicism being with Airyn, and the Catholic church says ghosts don't exist. He may have just said that for Airyn's benefit for the sake of being on the BP but privately still believed in ghosts IMO.

<snip>...  if "Peter" formerly SV on Bellgab ... </snip>

Thanks @Inglorious Bitch .  So @Peter Wyngarde is SV. I'm happy to know he is here in some form and still spreading his special brand of sunshine and rainbows

P.S. I agreed with your full post. I just didn't want to re-quote the whole thing. I don't like to use up too much space. I know, weird when it's digital. EG is a very pleasant place to hang out but can get a bit dull. It drove me back to Politics to get a little more spice in my diet. And was just beginning to exchange insults with Jack when he got sent to the zoo. People need to toughen up a bit or we will all end up on Fringe. I know we can count on you to keep things lively around here

P.P.S.I just learned from one of my favorite new kids, @Spookcat, what @ sign is all about. Nice to know. Praise BE

P.P.P.S. Remind me never to reveal my secret identity to you

I've always doubted that mainly because of Art's health issues, but you never know. Airyn did have Alex when Art was 70. I certainly wouldn't put it past Heather to use that to her advantage. Something that will probably never be confirmed. But as you said, we can speculate ;D

Someone said he had trouble getting to the mailbox in his final months.

TL:DR

Edit: No, I did read it. I've read it before too.
It struck me this time that Art really did think Heather was his last chance to keep the show going. Kinda like all his eggs were in the Wade basket. No wonder he kept trying to make a go of it hoping for the best.

I somehow missed that Art was less involved the last few months. That actually explains a lot. I do think she improved for a while at first, then sort of plateaued, and seemed to be getting actively worse toward the end. I wonder how much handholding Art was doing during shows. Of course, her insecurity (well-earned) about dropping subs probably only made matters worse.

That has the feel of a timeline of Art doing a lot of hand-holding then pulling back. She must have been a special kind of high maintenance for him.

What the hell- I'll take another stab at Ellgab / Bellgab.  I'm going to preface it by saying that I still enjoy it here.  If I did not, I would be gone.  I don't want people to think that I am slamming Ellgab.

The fact is that while most posters here claim that they were not enjoying Bellgab, they found Ellgab within one to three days of Bellgab going down, signed up, and were relieved to find MOST of the same faces.  That says something about the place that we are now saying was horrid and poisionous.

I'm not going to beat the free speech / protected status anymore (at least right now.)  And I am not going to say that this is "superior" or be stupid enough to believe that Ellgab is more mature.  It is mostly the same posters with a few additions (people who may not have felt comfortable enough to post at Bellgab, but must have enjoyed the posts and posters enough to follow it and find their way over here.)

I don't find myself self censoring here, and I did not there (I just noticed that I may have referred to a number of posters here as "stupid" in the last paragraph.)  I have also said that I understand why most posters were sent to the zoo.  However, with so many of the more aggressive animals locked away, I will say that I rarely visit the politics forum here.  I find it a little boring without MD and Metron there to jump on what I may post and it is the same vanilla political discussion that I can have anywhere.  However, I am enjoying the rest of the board.

So- now for a question for those posters who were not members at Bellgab...  If Bart shut down this board, and MV reopened BG, would you try your hand at posting there now that you have found that (most) posters don't bite (too hard)?

Yes, he pushed that narrative down our throats a lot. I just wonder that, at some point, in his heart of hearts, he knew he blew it but couldn't say it publicly so he stuck with the narrative.

In the gabcast in February 2016 I felt he took ownership of how bad he screwed up.
