We had planned to ski 3-4 more days here, 3 in Salt Lake City, and 14 days in Lake Tahoe. All of the Vail Resorts owned ski areas in North America are closed for one week. And of course they haven’t made any overtures about refunds for season ticket holders.
At least I will get a full refund on my accommodations in SLC and Lake Tahoe. Just not sure what, if anything, I will have to eat when I get back home. The cupboard is definitely bare because we anticipated being gone for 5 weeks.
Sorry your skiing was ruined. A potential injury spared, lol.
Well, instead of skiing on the frost, you get to fill a defrosted freezer, lol. There must be some freezer meals at the store that aren't soaked in sodium, which matters to me.
Or dig out your emergency food supply. You do have one, right?
Everybody, have a non-perishable emergency food supply, including dense high calorie foods including oil. Not everyone can afford extra groceries so for those of us who have to get creative, let the food bank assist you while you develop your collection. Most food banks don't have stringent income requirements, especially church ones. No need to say what you are using some of the food for.
A little non-perishable oil, virtually non-perishable roasted seaweed, and non-perishable bran added to any meal stretches it a long way... You probably still have peanut butter, which goes very well in coffee and won't curdle if you use a little creamer. Sure, it requires stirring but peanut butter lattes are fun. I even add a little PB (or any nut butter) to oatmeal. It's a nice, smooth, high-protein way to start the day just in case there is no meat in the house later.
If salt is not a factor, non-perishable spray cheese is a nice protein perk when people are tired and choices are thin. There could be some in the back of your cupboard.
I had just interviewed for a nice supplemental job at a large, well-established non-profit, and it went great. 2 days later, they eliminated the position because of the virus. People are not going to the work site anymore, just interfacing the Web, so my skills were not needed. I think our governor got funding for people who are required to miss work, but technically I wasn't hired yet. Ugh.
