I agree, this is not so deadly and dangerous that it's worth further across the board lockdown and damage to the economy, and damage to other aspects of society.  There is a cost/benefit analysis that at some point favors ending this.

Is there any number of deaths that would you make you take pause and maybe tackle this pandemic more seriously? I hear people say this but I never actually hear a breaking point number. At first this group said "It's not serious at all", then I saw a lot of comparisons to 17,000 number Conservatives put out for the H1N1, then we blew by that in a couple of weeks. Then it was compared to yearly flu numbers of 40K and we have more than doubled that. We are now at 90,000 and seems like everytime the numbers jump by 10K you guys keep saying "Doing great!" I heard Trump throws numbers like 65000 in mid April. For me it seems like the numbers are way worse than any of you expected

I got a feeling this will be like gun deaths/mass shootings where the numbers are disgraceful compared to any other civilized western country, but all we do is sit back, give thoughts and prayers and just allow the death count to grow out of control. Do we only care about human life when it directly killed by someone of a different color? 90,000 after just two months and we already are ready to give up and ride it out?

Do you know how many people die from the flu every year?  We don't shut down the world for that.

How many people die from car accidents.  Should we all stop driving?  How about diabetes and heart disease.  Should the Gavin Newsoms of the world put us all on strict diets?  Etc.

We took it seriously.  We sheltered in place and closed down so the hospitals and PPE manufacturers could get ahead of this.  We need both - our health and the ability to support ourselves.  At this point if someone is old or otherwise at high risk, THEY need to stay home and self quarantine, not everyone.

You know what's really shocking?  Govs Cuomo, and to a lesser extent Newsome sent covid positive patients TO NURSING HOMES.  Over their strong objections.  Any normal person following along could have told them that was the worst possible place for them to go.  They weren't set up for Covid, and told them so.  Thousands died needlessly. 

This, despite Trump setting up naval hospital ships and field hospitals in their states for this very purpose - which were hardly used. 

But we all have to lose our livelihoods and way of life because they know best?  Because only they can ''follow the science''.

Bill Clinton's HUD Secretary.  He's the one who decided banks not giving mortgages to low income applicants with lousy credit was, you know, ''racist'', and demanded they do so.  What an incompetent arrogant clod.  The perfect Democrat candidate.

Years later, with all the bad ''sub-prime'' home loans out there, came the 2008 meltdown.  He planted the seeds of that disaster, although there were plenty of other bad actors along the way who exacerbated it, starting with the Ds favorite corrupt investment bank, Goldman Sachs.
