My first job out of college (1979) was as a test engineer for a niche aerospace company in rural northern Virginia.  We had a Scandinavian customer who sent two engineers to witness a test in an outside test bay in the middle of the summer.  Aside from wearing sandals, they dressed exactly like the guys in the photo.

I suppose that’s Jimmy Carter’s fault, too.

You got something against Toughskins®? Well do ya, punk?

It's true. They weren't Levis nor testicle tourniquet Lees.

They were Toughskins®.

A boy has to know his imitations.

Sears?  Didn’t they use to have something called “stores?”

According to the TOUGHSKINS CLUB® membership discount card that I carry in my vintage TOUGHSKINS WALLET®,  there are thousands of SEARS locations.

Thanks!  I’ll have to check one out, the next time I head out for a meal at the Steak and Ale.  I hope they have some decent tools.

Steak & Ale?

As for me and MY house, we shall be served at BONANZA.  By William Conrad Himself.

Heh heh.

It was greatness. It was my first time to experience UNLIMITED REFILLS  of soda. It's even specified in that menu.

Unfortunately, dear old dad was quite tight with his cash. We didnt go nearly often enough.  >:(

It wasn't a question of affordability, it was just an oppressive, hoarding, tight assedness.

Ugh.

If only William Conrad had been my  "cool uncle" and beat some sense into my father.

Frank Cannon with dear old dad in a headlock?

" You WILL take your family to BONANZA at least once a month! Understand!?"

Talk about greatness!
