Holiday coverage was hit and miss at the boarding house. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years were usually shown, but not Halloween or the 4th of July. Sometimes they would be shown and other times they wouldn't. I have a pet theory that artist Ahern would skip covering a holiday if it fell on a Sunday, when the daily strip wasn't shown. Here is a 4th of July comic from 1922.
