I heard an old acoustic guitar with a leather cover on it, it belonged to Buck Owens... It absolutely killed the tone and volume. Although, that was a good thing in the old days when one microphone picked everything up. It allowed the normal volume voices to be in balance with the big old dreadnought guitars.
