The border will still be an issue I assume. I wonder if they will have a Canadian division with it's 7 teams and the remaining 24 American teams get put in 3 divisions of 8 and play each other. 4 teams from each division make the playoffs
Canadian Division - Canucks, Flames, Oilers, Jets, Leafs, Sens, Habs
Northeast - Bruins, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres, Capitals, Penguins, Hurricans
The West - Sharks, Kings, Ducks, Knights, Coyotes, Avs, Stars, Wild
The Rest - Panthers, Lightning, Preds, Blues, Blackhawks, BlueJackets, RedWings.
You can do old fashion divisional playoffs than with 1vs 4 and 2vs 3 in each division. The first travel across border doesn't have to happen until the semi-finals which will be around May, hopefully things are more open up by then. I think that could work pretty well, Canadian teams will have to travel alot of cross country but if you keep all the American teams playing within the division for the regular season there's not a lot of travel there, especially for the northeast teams.
