The eminent Richard Spence was an honored guest last night on C2C promoting his latest exposé - Secret Agent 666: Aleister Crowley, British Intelligence and the Occult. Spence used to be a regular on The Other Side of Midnight. Hoagland was so insufferable on his last appearance there that Spence cut the interview himself after mere minutes. George is usually more tractable.

I haven't listened to Hoagland and his little group of resident weirdos and co-dependents recently but I always wondered why a 'normie' like Spence would waste his time with Richard C. and his tiny listenership. I would have loved to hear Spence
tell Hoagie 'I'm done, bye'.

So I see there's a new Coast weekend host, Ryan Wrecker, wherever they found him. I wonder if anybody got the boot, hopefully Cunty Willis or Lee Cigar but I do remember George Knapp say he is cutting back to hosting Coast once a month.

And what a scoop Wrecker has tonight, Joshua P. Warren against all odds and ridicule has successfully opened a portal near Area 51. Can't wait to hear the details, should be fascinating.

"In the second half, paranormal investigator Joshua P. Warren will bring us details of his first-ever successful experiment opening a portal near Area 51."

It was about 20 minutes in or, as someone pointed out, more exactly, 19.5.  Hoagie was left in the lurch, but he went on at length self-justifying his earnest efforts to foment debate.  The only problem being, in political matters, Spence is a professor, Hoagland is an idiot.

Word goes that due to low ratings, Norry is being retired at the end of June.  I read this on X and another forum.  Any listeners have anything to validate this or not?

The solution is simple.. no more sad pack calls!

Frankly, I doubt it's ratings, it's probably his health... If true.

I agree, I doubt the network thinks anyone else is going to get them much better ratings.  If he does go, whoever they sign will make significantly less money than George, so financially it will be addition by subtraction for iHeart.  I also think they may want to take the show more mainstream.  Not ditching the paranormal stuff altogether maybe, but make it more palatable for the average person.  Probably gain more listeners than they'd lose.  I mean, I can't imagine Corny and his cronies calling a trucking show.

They ought to change the name.  That would have saved them all the George-hate from the Art Bell fans if they'd done that in the first place.

They won't though, the brand somehow still has value.

Red Eye Radio gets my ear (although they're insufferable at times) because they're lively.

If a sad packer (except Thomas from La Jolla) is on, my radio station changes.

from a fairly small account on X, a right wing Canadian - who knows, maybe he knows somebody who's talked to Syrett and this is in the works.

Inside baseball: George Noory will be retired, effective June 2025, and be replaced with new full time host, Richard Syrett. This follows recent ratings drop and listener pushback to Premiere Networks. Expect immanent announcement from Noory himself within the next week.

PremRat still lying after all these years.  If this was due to a ratings drop and (especially) listener pushback, the Gory Ogre would have been dispatched 25 years ago.

PS, what about all those 5 year extensions, is CheapRat going to eat his remaining contract?

Those annual 5-year extensions?

My guess is that PremSuck had annual options

Maybe it just seemed like he was always reporting new long-term deals - and I'd read the posts about it here.

Someone who actually listens may have a better idea of his contract status.

I googled and listened to the new weekend host Ryan Wrecker interview crackpot Joshua P. Warren. Wrecker is like Noory Junior - from Detroit, worked at a few Michigan radio stations then moved to St. Louis to do an overnight radio show on KMOX. Has a good voice for late night radio, looks to be maybe 40 and while he understands what Coast is about so he gave Joshua P. plenty of latitude to do his shtick but unlike Noory he did ask some questions that were challenging and you could almost hear his eyeballs rolling at some of Joshua P.'s nonsense. Joshua P.'s portal machine called the PSIONITRON of course is a pile of junk capable of nothing but lighting up and making some noises, a Slurpee machine is more scientific.

Wrecker was inoffensive.

Or contractual buy-outs for both parties.  If he is leaving, I suspect it's a retirement for medical/health reaons.   I haven't listened to him in nearly a year, but even then he sounded like was struggling to breath the longer he talked. Besides, he's no spring chicken, he's probably in his late 70s. The man may be just worn out.

Over the years, I've found the guy as exasperating as most here have, but to be fair, he deserves to be recognized for what he did do.  First and foremost, he was there, no prima donna/drama stuff like with Bell.  And I do respect him for insisting they do live shows on holidays.  There are a lot of lonely people who appreciate that. I honestly believe he cares about his listeners, something Bell never did.

I also don't think a lot of people realize how difficult it is to replace a legend.  Back in the day, that was referred to as the "Gene Bartow Syndrome," named after the guy who replaced UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. All he did was win 10 NCAA championships, including 7 in a row. Bartow was a good coach, he won something less than 700 games in 36 years....but he wasn't Wooden.  Despite going 52-9 in two seasons, he was never accepted by UCLA fans and left to start the basketball program and run the athletic program at UAB.  Nobody replacing Bell was going to placate his listeners.

A reflection on the sad state of corporate media.  Showing up, doing the minimum to fill the air time, not causing problems, And probably showing up for the time-wasting accomplish-nothing corporate meetings is enough to give you a long, lucrative career.

That scenario you described isn't only true in broadcasting,  I've seen people in various walks of life who succeed that same way.  Hell, I had a boss like that.  Great guy, but he was known for keeping his head down and his mouth shut.
