Dude's got a killer logo too! Hmm, curious. I WONDER ;) if it's any good? Too much bread can bung you up and leave you dropping out single coils only.  ;D @sean92008

Like what I see here..
https://www.daveskillerbread.com/products

I could eat a single multigrain loaf in a single sitting. Very good, you can taste the various grains, it's not like big company bread that just kind of has an overall taste of wood.

In the meantime, I've been craving the taste of alcohol. Rum raisin and honey on ice cream...  The consequences of my craving?  Diabetes, alcoholism and the inhumane treatment of bees as independent creatures.

My kid bought it for me, where can I buy some of my own? Trader Joe's? Aldi? Whole Foods? Grocery Outlet???

This stuff is like crack, I bet they put a cup full 3 grams of sugar in every loaf serving 😁

Costco carries it.

You actually underestimated it.  One slice is a serving, and they have five grams (about one teaspoon) of sugar per slice.  That's two teaspoons per sandwich.  If there are more than 16 slices per loaf, then it is more than a cup of sugar.  They offer a version with only one gram per slice (Powerloaf or something like that), and 5g/slice is about what you get from most commercial breads anyway.  They score very well on fiber and protein content.

I bake my own bread and, for most varieties, I don't add any sugar at all.  I don't do as well as they do on grains, because I am lazy.

[edit] Based on the information on their packaging, they should be getting 13 slices per loaf, which is somewhat less than one cup of sugar per loaf.

@PB The Adorable Retard , if you don’t use a sugar, how do you feed the yeast so the bread rises?

Interesting picture.  Sort of woundlike.

That is almost the sugar content per slice as most fast food hamburger buns. Gross. I'll pass on Dave's Killer Bread. Dave wants to kill us all with high cortisol levels. Seems almost counterproductive to kill off your customers.

@JUAN I use instant yeast, which doesn't require proofing. But even so, proofing your yeast shouldn't require a cup of sugar. A tablespoon at the most.

What do you do and how does it work for you?

If you are interested, I can drop a couple of basic recipes to your PM.  Great to start with, very easy but tasty results, and you can just riff from there.

🙄 Would someone post or send this message to this dumb turd? He has me on ignore.

I learned that I’m allergic to wheat, so haven't made bread in years.  I used a small amount of sugar, but more usually used honey or molasses.  It worked pretty well using whole wheat flour and whatever oyher grains I could find.

Well, that's too bad about the allergy. If you were able to manage whole wheat flour, then my hat is off to you. Could never make that work without pairing it with bread or AP flour.

I made molasses bread just a few nights ago. Completely different than any other techniques that I use. But worth it.

Dave's Killer Bread follow-up...

•61.5 grams of sugar in a 581g loaf
•USDA certified organic
•Certified non-GMO
•Made in Milwaukee, Oregon
•1/3 of DKB employees have criminal backgrounds
•Could "killer" bread mean manslaughter?

I never realized that breads were sliced in odd numbers and nutritional facts would be based on one slice...

There's a lot of "flours"out there with alternative grains...  Rice, cauliflower, etc...  Ever experience those in bread as a replacement?  (Sure, I could Google... Nah.)

The above is a decent recipe, great with balsamics and jellies
