According to wikipedia the Hudson had a range of 1,960 miles, making a radius of half that. Couldn't get near Japan with that.

What I found interesting was that the JB-355 file included an intercepted Japanese Radio message from May 1941 which mentioned a force of 800 bombers and B-17s! When in reality, only 100 P-40s were delivered by the summer/fall of 1941 (crated) to Burma. And only a couple dozen or so Hudson Bombers made it to China (of the 66 bombers promised in the documents).

The Japanese would have known this by the fall of 1941.  They had been planning to attack Pearl Harbor since 1927 - they had plans for it at their Navy war College !  Yamamoto was giving lectures on such an attack in 1928!  When the US moved the Pacific Fleet to Pearl in 1940, Yamamoto was dusting off his plans...and when Hirohito decided to go to war Dec 1, 1941, HE WAS ALREADY AT SEA HEADING FOR PEARL!

I mention that fact in my YT video....but these assholes never bother to mention that!

Considering the above was a jap intercept, one can only speculate was the the intended message was.

This was a message that WE intercepted in May 1941, and it was decoded in June.  So WE KNEW the Japanese had bad intel on any such bombers being based in China.

NO ONE wanted to give Chennault B-17s!  Armstrong even admits this!  So the logic that the Japs attacked Pearl based on that intelligence is just nonsense.

Yeah, I kinda put that wrong. I meant to say we intercepted it from the japs. And it was clear from the start that the bombers were going to Europe to defeat Germany first.

Right.  And we had recently delivered around 30 B-17s to Pearl Harbor and Clark Field (and Mindanao) in the Philippines months before Dec 7.  In fact, when the Japs attacked Clark they only got 12 of them because we anticipated the Jap may attack and flew 16 B-17s to Mindanao to be out of range.

About the only useful heavy bomber that I can see being in the Pacific during the early years would have been the B-24 which turned out to be an effective anti-submarine aircraft. But since the U-boats were taking a huge toll in 1942, naturally they were kept in the Atlantic.

I was actually surprised that we had so many B-17s and B-26s at Midway. 17 B-17s and 5 B-26s delivered in May 1942.

127 aircraft total.  The rest was a mix of older Navy fighters. dive and torpedo bombers and PBYs. (The Marines and Navy had those, AAF had the bombers.

Yeah, as good a job those aircraft did at leveling cities, they had a pretty dismal record when it comes to anti-shipping (at least military ships under way). Not exactly the job they were designed for, but I guess they had to use what they had.

Moon claimed we had bombers on Wake Island and Guam before Dec 1941 and that is totally false!  Guam did not even have an airfield until 1944!  And the only planes on Wake were a dozen or so Wildcats.

Here is a great book about a Pan Am Clipper flying boat that was on its way to Honolulu on the brink of the war and had to basically fly around the world to get back to NYC. Decent book.  https://www.amazon.com/Long-Way-Home-Ed-Dover/dp/061521472X

Thanks, wish it was on Kindel. (I have been going nuts buying books on Kindel the past week.  Shit, I bought three just to research what Moon has been lying about.  ;D
