Bart,
Looking for some real estate advice. Mrs. WAN and I having been looking for a place out in the country. Kind of a weekend retreat/vacation house sort of a deal. Want it to be quiet, secluded with a decent amount of land, so when you look out your window, you don't see a bunch of other houses with screaming kids. Maybe not too far from the coast, maybe plant a nice garden, maybe get an ATV, etc. Also not crazy expensive but not too old of a place, as I would rather concentrate on outdoors. Found the perfect place - nice plot of land in a good area, not out of control expensive and brand spanking new. Perfect. But......
There is always a but, right? The hook up for the washer and dryer are...like...in the hallway going to the master bedroom. No cabinents, no shelves, no laundry sink. Ok - I can fix or deal with that. However, they will just be sitting there - in the 90% done hallway. Jutting out and looking like ass. Plus when coming in from the garage, the door would clang into the washer. One could be sitting in the living room, relaxing, maybe reading some Ellgab and then look over and see the old Kenmore sitting there.
Me being a dude...thinks: "Just throw a tarp over them or don't even install them. Just throw the dirty skivies in the garage until it is full and make Patty come over with her groovy van and have her take care of it". On the other hand, Mrs. WAN thinks it will be impractical, a pain in the ass and would make the joint really hard to sell down the line.
Any thoughts on who is right? Is it even worth the two hour drive to go look at?
