... Why does everyone hate the Cowboys?
I ''hated'' them because most years they were the team SF had to beat to get back to the Super Bowl - and that didn't always happen. Here are some reasons others hate them.
The 49ers had been lousy most of their existence. In the 1970s they finally had some good teams but the Cowboys beat them in the 1970 and 1971 NFC Championship Game, and the 1972 Divisional Playoff. The 49ers fans started hating them intensely then.
The Cowboys were in the NFC East, with Washington, NY, and Philadelphia for years, and those fans are some of the most intense. They all hate the Cowboys because Dallas usually won the division every year.
The Cowboys, with straight arrow Roger Staubach, Tom Landry, they were media darlings and referred to as ''America's Team''. There was always a perceived Texas arrogance that seemed to manifest in the Cowboys. (Same with the Texas Longhorns, probably the same group of fans). In every neighborhood in the country, there were always a few punk ass kids who chose to be Cowboys fans simply because they won, and they all loved to talk about it. That never went over well. It was all too much.
Then there's the AFC teams they beat in the Super Bowl. And other NFC teams they've beaten in the playoffs over the years...
No one ever hated the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders though. None of it rubbed off on them.
