Looks like we're going to be able to say, "He's Baaaaaaaack!"
https://www.kron4.com/sports/colin-kaepernick-impresses-raiders-door-is-open-to-sign-with-team/

I don't see how he can be in football shape after 5+ years out of the league.  He could barely read defenses before, hence all the running yards he had, and needs to learn the playbook.  As a back up he might be okay for a couple seasons.  But do they want the headache if he starts his protesting again?  Aside from all that, what sticks with me mainly is how he quit on the team when he got benched.  Didn't go to meetings, etc.  Turned down the contract option for his last year.  Then the protesting started soon after.

He was brilliant at running the Pistol, which is fine for college but would eventually get someone killed by the much faster NFL defenses.  It got them to the Super Bowl that year though.

As far as reading defenses, he could do that fine, just not fast enough before the pocket collapsed if the first option was covered.  Turns out you have to be intelligent and think quickly to be a QB in the NFL.

Even if he could play at this level, who needs the media circus that would surround him.  Fuck this guy.

I believe he's an intelligent guy but other factors were involved.  By no means am I making excuses for him with that statement.  There was talk around here a couple years ago about bringing him in for a workout.  Even recently since he did the one for the Raiders.  It makes no sense on any level.  I'd lose my mind if the Steelers took a flyer on him.

All in all, he alone blew his career.

And yes, fuck him.

If a team thinks he would help them win he would have had a job years ago. He was 2-6 and 1-10 his last two years. He was terrible. A 5 year or whatever layoff isn't going to some how make him good.

Mayfield to the Panthers.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34201889/cleveland-browns-trade-baker-mayfield-carolina-panthers-draft-pick

In further news, the Browns logo is a rabbit pushing a shopping cart.

Good move for the Panthers.  Darnold is garbage.

That background with the logo does look like a rabbit pushing a shopping cart.   ;D

So, it's safe to assume DeShaun Watson will be suspended, and that means the Browns open the season with Jacoby Brissett.   The Browns have to be the most dysfunctional team in the NFL.  Lions second.  Sorry @Walks_At_Night.

I have a strong feeling the Jags will be a surprise this season.  I think they'll make the playoffs as a wild card.

The Browns seem to be more interested in keeping a QB soap opera saga going than in actually winning.  I do like their “rabbit pushing a shopping cart” logo, though.  ;D  It’s certainly more original than the Washington Commanders.

Oh yeah.  He'd be a good fit   The 49'ers would have to eat some of that contract.  I could see him staying in San Francisco too.  Unless a QB on any other team gets inured, I don't see other options.
