@Uncle Duke - did you get a look at the Roswell crash debris at WPAFB?  When I asked my father about it, he'd just smile.  My mother said she'd tried to get the story out of him for 50-years without any success.

Nope, although I have been in Hanger (actually Building) 18 where folklore says the debris was taken. It was part of the Propulsion Lab, and had a really nice, large conference room where I attended many retirement ceremonies.

In the late 90s, there were whispers about "something" very hush hush having been transported to and stored in a hanger at WPAFB. Naturally UFOs were one of the claims, but it was nothing more exciting than some MiG-29s bought from a former Soviet client state (Moldova?) to keep them out of the hands of Iran or similar bad actors

Still, you saw some interesting stuff.  Most interesting thing I've seen in my career was Fat Bob going to machinist and have a cradle support built for the bowl in Stall #1.  Just to give it some support as it was in peril due to his bulk.

Now that is damned impressive.  A perfect example of "minimalist engineering," a seemingly new age term for the old adage,  "If it's stupid, but it works, it ain't stupid."
