That is precisely why I stay oot of here. Continuous song posting with virtually no "Discuss"ion of music itself. @whoozit  Perhaps an aptly titled thread would have served better.

I am disgusted by this thread!

Yup, it is discussing the merits and shortcomings of various songs and artists that get me out of my comfort zone and to appreciate other types of music, if not actually enjoy them. @KSM

Yes. Take AC/DC for instance. Some folks favor Bon Scott where others, Brian Johnson.  For me it varies from song to song and not one singer over the other. @whoozit

Do you @Camazotz Automat have any opinion on this?  I cannot imagine Bon singing For those About To Rock but that said I am not all that happy hearing Brian singing Whole Lotta Rosie ETC.  I am not in the camp that one guy is better than the other. Shoot To Thrill or Shake A Leg (best riff ever) is unimaginable by any other vocalist on the planet - then and now.

But this I stand by; no better replacement for Bon than Brian.

I liked the Bon craziness. Brian turned out to be the lead singer for me.  I like the voice better and that's the voice I hear when I think AC⚡DC

Very well put.

Bon had a way about him. stage movements were... interesting..  his live vocals were freaking awesome. No cutting corners!

I agree about Brian being the "voice" of AC/DC although that could be an age thing. I'm sure a 60 yr old fan might be a di-hard Bon guy in this respect. @sean92008

Could be an age thing.  Brian hit when I was young and impressionable!

Bon is my Keith Moon of singers... Forgot to mention that.

Back in Black was one of the first albums I bought so I tend to think Brian as the voice of AC/DC.  I don’t think they would have become as big and remained a more niche band and not the juggernaut they are (were?) if Bon had not passed.

I had a Rolling Stone Record Guide, put out by the magazine.  My edition must have been issued not too long before Back in Black came out.  A huge book, it supposedly listed every rock album ever issued, A to Z by band.  They had a blurb about every band and every album, sometimes just a sentence or two, sometimes paragraphs.  They had a 1 to 5 star ranking but if the album was horrible, they'd give it a tiny black box instead of a star.  You guys probably remember this, it was fairly popular in the pre-internet era.

Anyway, to this day I remember what my edition said about AC/DC.  First, they gave every album a black box.  Part of their description of the band was - and I quote - ''they appear to be trying to offend anyone within eyesight or earshot, and they've managed to succeed''.  Lol.

There were two bands everyone at my HS hated, if the subject came up - AC/DC and Kiss.  I think all our little brothers loved Kiss, which didn't help.  Quite the dividing factor.  Not to mention a fantastic lesson in groupthink.  I personally had never heard any AC/DC tunes, and very little of Kiss.  Where would I hear it in that environment?

Then came Back in Black, and everything changed, overnight.  Massive popularity.  Suddenly their earlier records improved greatly, Rolling Stone updated their guidance in the next edition, and they were on their way.

I bought the Back in Black album, and it's still one of my very favorites.  It had to be the most popular record at our college.  It was also the last one of theirs I liked, but I have picked up most of the earlier records over the years.

Still hate Kiss though, with a few exceptions.
