It is been 40 years and 157 days since a really enjoyable guitarist died... There are so many Pretenders songs in which the lyrics refer to James Honeyman Scott... He influenced Johnny Marr and "discovered" the Violent Femmes.
What made me think of him was that I was stringing up at 12-string guitar today. I remember the day that I learned he had died I had a set of Guild 12-string guitar strings with a picture of him inside it as a celebrity endorser. In 40 plus years, I have probably put five 12-string sets on any guitar. It's not a common occurrence for me.
