I am just a few episodes away from finishing Hill Street Blues. I don't know how many TV shows have changed their opening sequence so often in one single season. They have a different opening sequence depending on who is being featured. They also had a lot of cast changes that last season.

It was a real groundbreaking show and wasn't just limited to its script.

I am going to mourn the end of this binge. I am running out of connections to my past. I didn't watch a whole hell of a lot of television.

Mourning the end of a binge. Why does this happen? What does that say about someone? It is odd, you must admit.  I was bummed when I finished the Ray Donavan binge.

Hill Street must have been a long one.. seemed like it went on forever.  You could binge on Law & Order. Like 88 seasons? No need to mourn as you can just restart it and watch like you've never seen it. @sean92008

@THRUST MEATNOZZLE - L&O, NCIS and that other procedural seem impossible!  I thought about Breaking Bad but I've watched the final episode a bunch of times.  I don't know if I could plod through it now.  I like Chris Carter for his taste in music though  ;D

Other than the acknowledgement that those days (the 80s) are over, it was an enthralling roller coaster for both St. E & HSB.  My fix is gone.  Kind of like when a company stops making your favorite addictive substance.  There's a withdrawal.

Some shows don't binge well.  Continuity, inconsistent backstories or histories, weak writing all can get over-emphasized in the binge.  Jack Webb's regular cast of characters showing up in a quarter of the Dragnet/Adam-12/Emergency! shows seems like every day in a binge.

Hill Street and St. Elsewhere, to their credit, kept the history consistent.  Something that happened in season one gets referred to in dozens of shows throughout the entire run.

To me, those shows, along with Twilight Zone, X-Files, ST: TNG all can be watched multiple times as they are timeless.

Tougher to binge, but still entertaining is ST: DS9, Barney Miller and Rockford Files. Superstore was nice at times. Because of that, I just saw the pilot for Ugly Betty. America Ferrera is intriguing, but I hate her politics and some of the shit she's done to make USC a less friendly place.

I don't know what my next binge is.  If I had a hobby that wasn't painful or depressing, maybe I'd stop the TV for a while.

Ah, good point on L&O. Admittingly I've yet to watch one episode let alone a season or two so I'm not sure why but I figured that it was history consistent. It looks very dark to me. Literally, dark, like the are saving power with low wattage bulbs. I hate that.

Long ago I posted that I followed Y&R (the young and the restless) for many years. I would watch it daily in my hotel room and eventually half the band and sometimes even crew got hooked ;D  As screwed up as it sounds I would love to have the dvd series running from 1986 thru 2013 (years I followed) for Seattle binging as I will not be permitted to work for the first year.

"Join us again, for the Young - and the Restless"      Ahhh  the days  :'(

Don’t forget 24.

I wonder if The Guiding Light is available?
Merry Christmas - Nice things, and posts, are nicer than nasty things.

Oh that was a good one. The book was too…any Elmore Leonard really.
There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

Started watching Superstore again. This time, on the Peacock app.  Apparently, I qualify for a free subscription due to previous business relationships.

A show I've tried to start a couple of times and couldn't last past an episode was a BBC production called Miranda. The Roku channel has it and I was able to binge from episode 1. Big draw on this show is the fact that they used a few of the old Absolutely Fabulous sets. Five episodes into it and I'm starting to wear thin.

BBC's Miranda:

A mix of Mr. Bean, AbFab, Seinfeld. Falling short of all.

A total of 20 episodes. No way she could have sustained it in America. Government and compelled public support for that network allows for that, I guess.

It's whole that Canadian Queen stuff, isn't it?  You don't even have your original national anthem.

And they say "brilliant" and "litrally" several times within any given 10 minutes.  Stupid 'mericans always going for the lousy queen angle. GET SOME NEW MATERIAL!  I do not like brit TV. IT SUCKS! SO GO SUCK A DICK YOU PRECIOUS LITTLE FUCK!

Considering I like me some Scottish, Welsh and Irish, regular old British (proper) folks are charming backstabbers. Well, mainly northerners...
