Any Tolkien fans out there?  Looks like in this upcoming Amazon series, the Elves are gonna be packing:

Question is what type of firearm will Eldar use?  I'm assuming they won't have squads of rifle-elf infantry, where every Elbereth, Cirdan and Glorfindel gets a rifle. I guess that they'll be somewhat rare - more of a squad type weapon.  So what will it be? I think it has to have kind of an old school look to it - not like a blunderbuss or musket but not like a modern SAW either. Certainly it can't be something used by dark forces like an MG42. I'm thinking the Browning Automatic Rifle [BAR] fits the bill. Got an old school look. Admittedly a bit big for slender elven arms but wow - great stopping power to rip up charging Orcs and Wargs with. Hell I bet a good burst of 30-ought-six slugs would even down a Cave Troll without too much bother.
