Our first Buc-ee's was given the green light in 2024 but won't open until 2027. Not sure why a gas station takes three years to build. They poop out Dollar Generals here in like 6 weeks. I am sure there are attractive people in Virginia [it is for lovers after all] but apparently none of them are going to Buc-ees. Crowd there looks like the bar patrons in Star Wars.
Those "Virginia is for lovers" bumper stickers were everywhere when I worked at Langley in the early 1980s. A colleague, a stereotypical New Yorker, picked up a fist full of them at some event. Using an Exacto knife, he carefully cut out the "s" in "lovers" on all the bumper stickers, then would affix them over the "v" in "lovers" on the stickers already on cars. There was one car (owned by an asshole we worked with) that kept that "Virginia is for losers" sticker on his car for at least two years.
