The army is pretty good at moving things.
I wonder if the national guard or even the military could be sent to help keep the farms operating - doesn't most of the food supply come from large factory farms?
Factory farms with automation are big in commodities like grains, corn and staples like rice but vegetables and fruits still take a lot of manual labor to harvest and pack.
National guard is probably a decent option in some states, but you would probably need some coordinated effort to get them to the right state at the right time. Not sure governor’s would want to allow their guard units to go to California to pick lettuce or avocados.
Man. I hate canned asparagus.
I didn’t plant much this year. A few tomatoes and several types of basil. It’s really toolate to plant here in Texas. Have to wait until Fall now.
I guess all those massage therapists, retail clerks and such could be hired to pick crops but there is zero chance of that happening the next 4 months since they will be getting 100% of their salary from this new unemployment on steroids.
