My suggestion would be to pay attention to motives, understand who is behind comments and policies, and what they stand to gain or lose.  Look back and see who was accurate, who was wrong, who turned out to be telling the truth, who turned out to be lying, what policies turned out to be beneficial, and which turned out to be destructive. 

And use that as guidance for current comments and policies.

He had a column in a paper I subscribed to for years.  He's a pretty smart guy, with a strong understanding of a variety of areas - economics, foreign policy, government, media, and so on.

I'm not an expert on his writings, but he's been right on things.  As with anyone else, he's just one source.  His column on the covid test made sense to me.

And I've never heard of David Irving.  What's that got to do with it?
