@Walks_At_Night how are you, the Mrs. The Morg! descendants, and the Island of misfits?
Heya
@Spookcat Well let's see....
The birds are doing well. Lylah, the Cockatiel had scratched a big gash over her left eye and had to go the the Avian vet. We had to wrap her into a "bird burrito" for a few days to let it heal up [which it did]. Parakeets are doing fine as well. We have one pair that are breeding machines and Mrs. Walks has them turning a small profit at this point. There is a surprising market for babies.
After finishing school, Little Walks lucked out and got a job in her field. Originally she was expected to relocate but the virus situation thankfully has delayed that. With luck she'll be able to work remote for permanently as she was not thrilled with the work location. She works for large outfit whose name is instantly recognizable and she thought at first "Wow" this should really be awesome. Didn't take long to learn the truth - stupidity and bureaucracy carry the day sometimes. Mrs. Walks is well but a bit frustrated with her gig too. She works with anti-virals and they managed to get it approved for clinical trials for Covid-19 treatment. They need like at least 30 people for the trial but somehow, someway they have had a hell of a time finding candidates. All you hear about is how widespread it is here in the U.S. but when the rubber meets the road after 6 months they are nowhere near the candidate participation level they need to be at. Very weird.
I've actually been....great as of late. The only benefit I have at work that has not been pared back is vacation time. I get a nice amount and as we never went anywhere this year, I've been off almost all of December. I had always thought that I would hate retirement. I don't think that'll be the case. I'm kind of digging this. I've done some reading, watched some TV and got a bunch of house projects taken care of. Typically, I have time for none of those things. Been watching some silly documentaries on Amazon and it once in a while Dietrich will show up. Always freaks me out!
Hot Wheels and Red Heat both managed to find new gigs.... So that's good for them. What is not good is that Methuselah and Sweet Young Thing's big annual Christmas bash was cancelled this year. That sucks as it is quite the occasion. Hillbilly Jim has changed his plans a tad. He was planning on quitting and going it alone with a patent idea he had. He's decided that he is not cut out for that. He did get his house here in town sold finally. He had ripped out two of the bedrooms to turn them into a combo Man Cave/Sex Dungeon. He ended up having to have them put back in - guess there is more a market for a pad with three bedrooms over a 1 bedroom sex palace. He's gonna take a chance and try to stay up in the Appalachians full time. The White Shoe Boys have done an analysis and come to the conclusion that we are much more productive working remotely. Well gee - ya think? Not all jammed together in that big open room was not good for productivity. I bet we'll be given the option of not having to go into the office once this virus is in the rear view mirror. The Hillbilly never made it back to Vietnam due to the virus. One drawback of his living up in the mountains is his pool of viable targets is reduced greatly. Not to be denied he's been tapping some chick down at his post office. He has to drive quite a distance to get to his post office to pick up his mail. He's been tapping one of the postal workers when makes the trek. She'll go on break when he gets there and they'll have a little quickie in her van out back. Apparently there is no luvin' like married, postal worker luvin', in a parked van during a coffee break. I wouldn't know but the Hillybilly swears by it.
