What happens between now and the next Canadian election is the question. The new government will be dealing with a recession, major unemployment and provincial backlash. Can Canada hold on as a viable sovereign nation? What is Uncle Sam going to do with all those recalcitrants who refuse to pledge allegiance to the stars and stripes?
I don't know how close you've been following things but I recently did a piece on a report that claimed that at this point 1 in 4 Canadians WOULD be in favor of joining the US or at least be open to considering it.
1 in 4! That's huge if you think about it in just the 5-6 weeks since the original 51st state joke was made. Obviously that jab against the
fancy sock swish has grown legs as it obviously has people thinking about it. I would never have imagined only ten years ago that I would feel the way I do now, but as things are with Canada being so weakened and broken I am just fine with it. I don't recognize this place.
As far as those who would not be willing to join in, they and all the 'I'm moving to Canada if he wins' types from the US can have their own section of land in the most northern parts of Canada while the rest of us move on with one giant unified fortress/continent.
I am not happy about any of this but it is what it truly is and if the cowards in Ottawa were not hiding away staving off the election that they WILL lose in a landslide we wouldn't be in this mess, or at least there would be a much earlier election and we (up here) could move forward.
