Well, no more Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.  It will be called Acrisure Stadium.   ::)   It's an insurance company that is going to pay $10 million a year over 15 years for the naming rights.

Yinzers are not happy.

Here's my question:  So what?

Ok, so the naming rights were sold to some corporation by whoever manages the stadium.  Why do the rest of us have to go along?  Why does media have to use the new name?  Why do the fans?

I call the stadiums and areas around here Giants Stadium, A's Stadium, the Warriors Arena, the Shark Tank, and the 49ers Stadium.  there's no confusion, everyone knows what I'm talking about, no one's mad at me.  I don't have to relearn everything every 3 years.

Fuck 'em and their stupid ''naming rights'' - change the sign if you want, and leave the rest of us alone.

Yeah, I get it.  It could be called <insert name here> field or stadium.  However Heinz is synonymous with the city.  The company was founded here in 1869 so it has deep roots.  Yinzers get sensitive to the change.  Me?  I just get tired of all the corporate labels on every thing.  Look at all the college bowl games.

There is a mall here that was known as Northway Mall for over 60 years.  It was renovated a few years ago and renamed The Block Northway.  I'll always call it by it's original name.

What about the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl?  I didn't even know what Gasparilla meant.  I confused it with Sarsaparilla.  ;D

I don't know what that is either, something they drink in old cowboy TV shows.

Put out the word, and just call it Heinz Stadium.  I doubt anyone is going to argue with you.

I wonder what the response would be if someone called into the local sports talk radio station and said that.  I wonder if the politically correct hosts would shit themselves in repudiating the idea, or if the caller would even get on.  The fact is though, they are the ones who ought to be leading the effort for everyone to ignore the name change and keep calling it by the current name.

They would probably first tell him to turn down his radio because anyone who would do that as some type of limp wristed protest has to be one of those annoying cranks who have their radio on when they call in.

Heinz could have ponied up to keep the name.

I've never called in to any radio show.  Ok, once to troll Hoagland.

Now is that the same thing?  Did Amazon pay GE to start calling it something else?

It sounded like the fans wanted it.  Who cares about some corporation.
