@Bart Ell  @KSM32   Definitely not the result I wanted but I'm not surprised.  Just 3 quick observations...Pens power play is broken, Jack Johnson sucks, and Carey Price was awesome.

I fully expect the Pens to win the next game.

Losing to a team that traded away everyone they could at the trade deadline is never good.

True.  But I expect the Pens to shit the bed on occasion.  That's why I wasn't surprised.  The trades the Habs made reaped some future dividends if the draft picks pan out.  I think the Max Pacioretty trade was a win for them getting Tatar, Suzuki, and a 2nd round pick.

The Pacioretty trade was great but that was 2 years ago. It is trading away guys like Kovalchuk, Scandella and Thompson a few weeks before the season was paused that hurts them now. Crosby is feasting on faceoffs, which is where Thompson is really missed.

That's right.  Don't know where my head's at this morning.  I see your point about the players mentioned.  Wasn't Scandella strictly a rental for the Habs anyway? I know he signed long term with the Blues after the trade but I didn't think the Habs wanted to sign him or if he even wanted to stay.  I'm not sure of the circumstance.

Would have been a rental for the playoffs but got traded away once they were out of it. Same for Kovalchuk.
