The Flyers should hire Chelios to drive him crazy

I heard former All Pro tackle Leon Searcy (Steelers, Jaguars, Ravens) on the radio the other day.  He was from Orlando and attended The U (Miami) and was a first round pick for Pittsburgh.  In his rookie season, he was eating at a nice restaurant when the waiter interrupted him and said a fan would like to meet him. Leon accompanied the waiter back to a private dining room, met the fan who was named Mario, shook a lot of hands and had a lot of pictures taken before returning to his dinner.

Two days later he found out who Mario Lemieux was.
Merry Christmas - Nice things, and posts, are nicer than nasty things.

@juan
nice story.

Last night I was talking hockey talk with a person much younger than me. I asked him what did he think of HEXTALL as the new GM. He explained to me that Ron Hextall has calmed down over the years. After a few minutes he noted that watching the FLYERs play hockey is kind of boring. No passion.  ::)

Mario Lemieux (66) of the Pittsburgh Penguins gets up from the ice in front of Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ron Hextall on December 8, 1988 at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA.

I have a very vague memory of seeing a Junior game with Pat LaFontaine playing against Mario Lemieux. It could have been the last game of the season and I believe they were battling for the Jean Béliveau Trophy.

I may look it up to see if this is a fake childhood memory.

There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

What is this, NHL thing you all talk about?
It's like figure skating without the tights and sequins. You'd like it @KSM .

Five Flyers are now on the COVID protocol list. @PolkaDot  >:(
At this moment in time, I am thankful that I am not spending money to watch NHL games. My old stand by is the radio. Or I may watch a game on a free streaming site on a small screen.
One of these days I hope to watch a FLYERS game on a big TV. Like in the good old days.
On a sad note, I am starting to agree with @KSM  :'(

Why so dramatic, @FISH ?

https://www.wwiimemorialfriends.org/blog/hockey-in-world-war-ii

It is a long story.
Over 2 months ago, I picked up a new cable box to watch the GAME. After setting up the new cable box, my tv “got” broke. My NEW TV did not fit on my old tv stand.
My brother and I built a new addition for my old TV stand. Last night, I applied the last coat of polyurethane to my improved tv stand. My new tv is still in the box. We were going to set up the new tv and new cable connection this weekend for the GAME on Sunday…and so it goes on and on.

Thanks for the cold water in my face. @Bart Ell
You are acting like my poor dead Old Aunt Deanie. She survived the Depression Era and WW2.
“Kraut Line?” that’s racist.
Conn Smythe wore argyle socks.
As a youth, I saw Gordie Howe play ICE HOCKEY.

I'm sorry, and I'm sorry about that.  These are bad times on ice.
