Everyday they walk 2mi to the rim of a volcano then down 1000’ where they mine sulfur with their bare hands. Next to an acidic lake that will rot your teeth if you get the water in your mouth and kill you if you swallow it. There’s also deadly fumes that come off the lake. The liquid sulfer will eat your skin off if you touch it. Once it’s solidifies you put 150-200lbs in a basket and carry back up 1000’ to the rim. You do this twice a day and make $17. Don’t worry though, when the pandemic started they cut back the number of “miners” for social distancing.
