About two months ago I was going to seriously considering buying a house in small-town Texas. I had no idea about the property taxes down there. What the fuck is up with that @GravitySucks ?
The three main sources of revenue for states are sales tax, property tax, and income tax. Most states have some combination of all three, and have higher or lower rates on some. In places like California, all three are sky high.
Texas has no state income tax, and sales tax is 6 something percent (maybe more if cities and counties tack on a little), so that leaves property taxes.
