I have really shied off of Texas with all the crap going on down there, it seems like they've finally tipped over to California status. The shootings in Uvalde and at DFW show that there's no fear of concealed carry.

You can’t legally carry, concealed or otherwise, as a citizen on the grounds of a school or an airport.

What’s interesting in the recent Indiana mall incident, the hero who stopped the psycho murderer was technically violating restrictions on carrying in the mall. Thanks to the armed citizen, the bad guy was eliminated much quicker than he probably thought was possible. I doubt the murder expected any citizen in that food court to be armed. Surprise.

It's part of a mix...  Lubbock, Amarillo are mostly sane BUT I have lived in California 90% of my life. San Diego and Orange County were the sane places for a long time, but now they're not. It spreads.

As for carrying in an airport, I was under the impression that it was still like the early 2000s... Lobby and baggage claim was fine, just not allowed at the gates.

That’s how the state, county, city and school districts get revenue. We don’t have a state income tax.

There are exemptions. A homestead exemption on your primary residence reduces your appraised value. Some rates freeze when you reach a certain age. I used to know the particulars but I’m exempt from property taxes on my residence because I’m a disabled veteran so I am not up to date on the various rules.

Property taxes are deductible on your federal income tax up to a certain limit. I think it’s $10k.

Yes. Texas is one of the 9 states that do not have an income tax. Washington is another one but they are considerably low compared to Texas and other states. Washington gets you in every other way. BC prices on most things and the second highest gas tax in the USA.
