The criminal should not have done those illegal and harmful things. But the business was stupid as Hell to mention her being fired right in front of her teen daughter, and as second-hand info, too. Also, it's really, really rude as well as risky to fire people, lay them off or cut hours in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Obviously this woman had attendance issues, but we are not hearing the whole story. Perhaps she also has a rare blood disease requiring frequent hospitalizations which may have used up her FMLA. Maybe her house burned down & she is staying in a shelter which has a curfew. We don't know. It would have been way more prudent to let her go after the New Year. People are just stupid in the unnecessary risks they take, the risk of aggravated retaliation. As for the criminal, well I can't imagine anyone but an addict doing stuff like that. But I really don't know.
