In this place all packages and mail are placed in lockers. These lockers average about 18" - 24". If they shove my bride in there I can't say that she'll be all that happy by the time I get to her.  And think about her spine!! Just getting to this now. 

I can't imagine that we're looking at a paid job there. My guess is the homeowner picked up some beer and pizza, and called up the neighbor who constructed his own abomination on his property.  -Something like that- can't be a paid 'professional job.  Only a matter of time before those stairs fail, and the deck would have been better as a freestanding piece. Not sure how it works down here, but a home inspector up north will be quite cranky with anything that is attached to the home that wasn't already cleared through the normal avenues of never-ending red tape.

What happens around here is that it's OK to replace something that was already there. That is how I got around some building codes where I had a very long outdoor stairway and I called about permits and the guy told me straight up take photos before and after show that you're replacing it try to be within a couple of inches of accuracy and you're OK.
