... Just send the meteor and end it already. We tried to smart but failed. We clearly cannot do this as a civilization and need to be hard reset.  There are just too many dumb ones now. Compensation is no longer possible as they have been propped up by barely working technology too long and graceful failure is no longer in the cards.

What if we had a small group of self-proclaimed elites - who didn't have any skills other than scrambling their way to the top of the power structures - making decisions for all of us?  Should we try that first?

Same thing happened in May of 2000. All the doomsday crowd were losing it and then nothing happened.

Someone dumped a grimy quarter in change on me today.  So black encrusted I couldn't even see the date.  Took it home, washed some of it off under the faucet, and saw it was dated 1953.  90% silver. 

Did the trick with aluminum foil and baking powder to get the rest of the tarnish off and now it's nice and shiny like new.  I wonder where it's been all this time.
