Volunteer red peas and sweet potatoes are coming up.  Food with no work.
Merry Christmas

I had some success at photographing the auroras, or Northern Lights, here at the EllGab Garden the other night.  Of course, I had to look north and there couldn't be a worse direction to look, due to all the light pollution, tree branches and power lines.  But I took a stab at it anyway and took some pictures.  I couldn't see anything but dark sky while taking the pics, but the camera on my phone was more sensitive and it managed to pick up traces of the auroras.

OOOoohhh Yeah! Gorgeous. been seeing some of the skies from the town I lived in up in BC. It's astonishing. Nice stuff, Rikki!

Thanks, @KSM, very nice of you to say.  We don't normally get auroras down here at the Pacific Northwest.  In fact never during all the years I've lived here.

The Achillea, fernleaf yarrow blooms have returned for yet another year.  I'll never understand why it wouldn't flower for a good five or six years after placing it in that metal tub, but it matters not because it blooms every springtime, now.

Introducing my old pal, Jeremy Blue Jay, who has watched over EllGab Garden West for a number of years now.  He is rewarded with three salt free, in-shell peanuts a day, which he zealously buries in the ground.  I read somewhere that blue jays can remember a thousand or so places that they have buried future sources of food.  Jeremy can also swoop down from a tree branch and catch a peanut, if I manage to throw it high enough into the air.
