The high desert is ripe with nasty lightning plus all the static.

Art did it right.

Sometimes I wish I didn't live in SoCal...  I could see myself working (probably for free) at a local station like that again in my declining years.
Everything seems so solid, clean and up to code. I've seen so many stations that look cobbled together in comparison.
Thats a wonderful dream, really Sean.

I don't think I could handle living out West.   I think the rocks and dirt would depress me after awhile.  I like it green.

Funny, I'm quite the opposite. Having grown up in the desert southwest I love seeing the actual geography of a place, dirt, rocks, mountains. Living here in the sierras of norcal my friends often hear me go on about how this place might be pretty were it not for all the effin trees screwing up the view.

Yes, and lay under it for shade.

The trees have their uses.............  Pictures are taken up on Brockway Mountain over looking Lake Superior in Northern Mich.  All a matter of what you are used to I guess.
Not Monument Valley mind you but kinda neat.

Yes. There is a magic to the smaller radio stations of the past and the diminishing independents that still remain like KNYE. They have personality.

I grew up near WAPE 690, an AM rock and roll station. They had an indoor outdoor swimming pool in the front of the building for people to stop by and use. They also hand built a lot of their consoles and equipment and were a dedicated group of people. They were also home to Doug Tracht, aka the Greaseman, for many years early in his career. He was quite a character on the radio when he was here before he went large market. It was all local and people were invited to come by the studio.

In this day of automated corporate rubber-stamped stations, it is always a treat to see the small independent stations succeed. They are really what radio is about.

For sure. It's not that I don't appreciate the beauty but I love hiking the landscape where you can see for miles. Starting tomorrow I will be spending some time in the temperate rainforest on the upper coast of British Columbia, just in time for the glorious fall colors.

Cool beans.  I'll be in a cube tomorrow fixing a hell of a mess that some dudes in Beijing made.      :'(

Greaseman is one my top three. Amazing stuff. And hilarious. Master of soundboards and story-telling. Now I'm gonna eat a can of tuna and get big and sing a song now.

@GravitySucks   You lucky bastard.   We've got some Prickly Pears coming along out back but that's supposed to be Fruit of the Gods right there.
