Astrud Gilberto - 83.

The voice that I could imagine whispered in my ear during a night of procreation. Alluring. Perfection!

Astrud Gilberto - 83.  She accompanied her husband Joao to the US, along with Tom Jobim, to record an album along with Stan Getz which became Getz Gilberto. Since she could speak English and sing a bit, the producers had her record the new English lyrics to Garota de Ipanema - The Girl from Ipanema which became an international hit. Her kind of thin, not exactly in tune voice became the standard for girl Bossa Nova singers.

Thanks for this, very interesting.  When listening to this, I immediately thought of this tune, especially the part about dragging the vocals a bit out of tune:

Pat Robertson has gone home to the Lord.
Merry Christmas - Nice things, and posts, are nicer than nasty things.

Barry Newman of 'Vanishing Point " dies at 92. I saw this at a Midnight Movie showing. Awesome movie. He  had a good run. In real life and in the movie

"Barry Newman, whose terse integrity and understated rebelliousness made the 1971 movie “Vanishing Point” an enduring hit in the annals of American cinema about the open road, died on May 11 in Manhattan. He was 92."

Clevon Little was great in "Vanishing Point" as the blind DJ doing a play-by-play of Kolwaski's antics.  This was before he became a star in "Blazing Saddles."  Alas, Little died over 30 years ago.

Depraved old raisin who said gays caused 9/11 and it's okay to beat your wife if she gets out of line.

Another grifter made successful by the knuckle-draggers on the right.

I heard some interesting trivia about Blazing Saddles... Richard Pryor was supposed to be in it. I think it was because of his cocaine habit that they couldn't get him insured or funded, something like that. They had to pick Clevon Little. Honestly, I can't see Richard Pryor pulling the role off. They did give Richard Pryor some executive producer credit though.

He was also a co-writer, with Mel Brooks and a few others.  As I watch Blazing Saddles, I can see parts Pryor probably wrote.

Ahh.  I see Pryor as more acidic than Little.

Inappropriate movie and comedian in today's world.

Popped up in my Windows timeline:

Shannen Doherty has suffered a major setback in her cancer. The metastasizing has spread to her brain.

Mike Ness has stage one tonsil cancer. I'm presuming he'll be fine for the short and midterm, and he'll have to keep an eye on shit closely for the rest of his life.

Unabomber Ted Kaczynski has been found dead in his prison cell.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/theodore-ted-kaczynski-known-as-the-unabomber-has-died-in-federal-prison/ar-AA1cnFXR?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=4b8a51b0751d429393364d0dfb49b97f&ei=13

In 1998, I participated in an online contest which was to create a limerick that included "Kaczynski" and "Lewinski" in it.  These were my submissions:

Some think that Lewinski's a clown
And Kaczynski's mind is unsound
But you just can't deny it
They're modern day pirates
They know how to blow a man down

A skater who asked, "Who's Kaczynski?"
Heard this answer from Tara Lapinski
"He sent bombs in the mail
But now he's in jail
Where he's giving more head than Lewinski."
