Woke up in the middle of the night (bad cold), heard a lonesome train far off. I hadn't caught any of Shoestring's videos in a long time. Came to find out of his passing many months ago. Shoestring had become something of a legend in the past few years as medical and psychological issues sidelined his wandering exploits, although he would still catch out when he could. The man had stories after riding the rails for more than thirty years and he had a way of telling them that caught that deep desire to shuck all responsibilities and worries that life throws your way, pack a bag and hop a freighter.
