No harder to believe than the science of evolution.    I heard this from a Anthropology instructor in college, I paraphrase, "Although I teach scientific knowledge and theory, and don't believe in a superior being, we teach evolution with convenient leaps in evolution.  Because the timeline for this planets evolution is not long enough to apply true evolution of species.  So, an argument could be made that evolution and a 7 day creation of the earth take equal amounts of faith." 

Anybody ever hear something along those lines in their education?

My God, poor you.  That thing must've gone through Pearl Harbor.  Our state chairs were made by prisoners.  They were crafted okay with materials the inmates had to work with.  But the wooden desks...they were beautiful!  Lots of talented woodworkers in the penitentiaries.

I laughed loud and suddenly...  One of my cats went a foot straight up in the air...  Doh!

I make a very concerted effort not to play music or do any work loud around them.  I don't want to fuck up their hearing. Loud stuff alarms them (a good thing, in my book).
