yeah, no NHL or baseball. The great prophets of the past never saw this coming. I am deeply and saddened but I feel myself moving from sadness into the anger phase. @KSM32 as you know I have 3 hockey sticks in my cellar. Maybe you could stop over and we could play some street hockey outside my home. Do you want to play goalie?

Because we get a hockey stick before he get a baseball bat we also tend to hit left.
That's why most Canadian MLB players hit from the left side even though they are right handed.

That sounds about right. If you start playing young, you shoot left. Will @KSM32 allow us to use ice cold pucks? Or is he going to demand we use the so called hockey ball?

In my youth I could play goalie. Those days are long gone.  All I'm capable now is a stay at home defenseman.  Think of a skill set in the likes of Ken Daneyko or Bob Boughner.

I shoot lefty but can play on either side.  Not good at puck handling on the fly but quick with an accurate outlet pass.

In Calif our skates have wheels and we play with a ball.  It's great.

In college I shared an apt with a guy from Canada.  It snowed and froze over and that morning he's all excited and tells me ''call Doug and tell him to bring his skates and stick''.

''Um, I don't have skates or a stick, and neither does Doug, we have mitts and footballs...''  He was shocked, I can still see the look on his face.  Looking back, we should have - we had the weather for it.

Sorry.  And then you're at seminars with guys from Alberta etc By any chance were you conceived in Canada? Seems to be something going on here and it's always got a hint of hockey around it.

Nope, I was born and grew up in Washington State, the snowy eastern side.  The high desert as Art would say.  I've been to Canada maybe a half dozen times - all but one just Vancouver / Victoria - but those are probably the only hosers I've met that I recall right now. 

My Canadian roommate was named Arvin, although he preferred being called something else.  So Arvin it is, but what the hell kind of name was that?

We were routinely playing the other sports, and he really thought we had hockey gear - it took awhile to convince him we weren't just messing with him
