@Bart Ell what is the story behind the story? Is it all about $$$$$$$$? Who doesn't want a NHL team from Quebec City? The Canadiens, the Leafs or Gary Bruce Bettman?
Bettman's tenure in the NHL has been controversial. He likes expanding the NHL into non-traditional hockey markets at the expense of the more traditional markets in Canada and Northern USA states. Bettman assumed office on February 1, 1993--I say TIME to retire.

As you must know by now, I loved Bernie Parent--he grew up in Rosemont, Quebec, a suburb of Montreal.  Parent's hero as a young boy was Montreal Canadiens goalie Jacques Plante. During his early playing career, Parent did not conduct interviews in English for fear of saying the wrong things. I have been following ICE HOCKEY since 1974. The Broad Street Bullies were my heroes.

US TV deal money runs the league and I have no issue with it.

I am pretty sure they are fine with you being done with them over something like this.
Especially when it has nothing to do with the NHL and is about people getting to play hockey.
I don't see how this would affect your life or why you would let it.
