@JUAN I found a new sardine source. A little strip mall about 4 blocks from here has one of those "Dollar Stores" and I needed a birthday card for someone who doesn't matter all that much to me. Whilst in the store I noticed a canned goods and food-stuff section.   "Hmm" - I actually said that to myself within the confides of my head.   I walked on down the wall to see if they had any brown sugar - they did not! But what I did see was a canned fish section! AHHH-HAAA!!!  There it was! A full section of sardines in water, oil, and even ketchup! I cleaned them out with 27 cans at a tax free rate of $1.25 per can!

I felt dirty being in that store and was fearful of being recognized because of my hugely popular radio show. Next time I'll wear a covid mask just like all the other patrons.

I was in our local Dollar Store just yesterday to get some painting and cleaning supplies (paintbrushes, plastic drop cloths, putty knife, caulk, dish soap, a garden trowel (for digging the dirt out of my roof gutters), a few other things, M&Ms... I happened to walk past the disgusting cans of sardines and thought of you and my brother, who eat them.  Ketchup, really?  You didn't know they had them?

So what is wrong with the Dollar Store anyway?  They have some real bargains on quality items, and things best bought elsewhere, like every other store.

Brunswick has a great selection of sardines. I am surprised anyone could refer to them as disgusting.

Thanks.  The local Dollar Tree is about 100-yards from my usual route, so I'll have to check there.  This is lettuce and endive growing season here, so I'm topping my salads with sardines.  I have a few more months before the heat allows me to grow only beans, Southern peas, sweet potatoes, peppers, and okra.

Nothing wrong with the store itself. Ketchup sardines are a crime. Yuck.  I will take a longer look next time I'm there. Looked like they had everything from toilet brushes to screwdriver sets. With the prices so low in there it makes me wonder what the catch is if these are actually quality-ish items. Had another can of DEENZ this morning with my eggs and sausage. If those things are any indication of the quality of other things found there, it's a gold mine.

Maybe you shouldn't be so judgmental of your brother and even me. But go ahead... dinkface.

PS my Dads funeral is tomorrow. I'm going to sue his widow! HAAAaaHAHAHAHA

I love most of them. Brunswick is the main canned fish up here.

Sounds delicious, really. You should post a picture of your garden when in all its glory.

There are at least a couple different chains, and they carry different things.  Some of what I buy are items that don't have to be quality, plastic cups, napkins, spoons and forks for parties, sandwich bags, freezer bags, trashbags, smaller bottles of shampoo, toothpaste, sunscreen, detergent, things like clothespins, safety pins, all sorts of cleaning products, snacks, spices, cans of beans, office supplies.  I'll buy small tools if they are either decent quality like putty knives, electrical tape, or single use, things like that.  So probably not socket sets or batteries.  Things that are worth about a dollar, but sell for $5-10 elsewhere, or in larger quantities.  I save money there, but there are products I would pass on.  I think people should at least know what's available.

Years ago Target had a few shelves of travel sized products - toothpaste, shampoo, and so on, some of it reminds me of that.

I'm not being judgmental, I don't want that strong fishy smell.  He gets them at the dollar store too.

Why would you not want to be seen coming out of the dollar store, eh?  ''Feeling dirty'' and not wanting to be seen seem judgmental.

If items are not hugely marked up and borderline expensive to the point of highway robbery they can't be any good. I want my money's worth!  :)

Some of the brand names you see in these places.. Hmm, like I didn't know Good Year made tires AND had a canned sardine line! <being entirely silly.

I played in a wind ensemble at the Presbyterian church this morning.  Being Black history month all of the .music was spirituals.  There's little in life as sad as a bunch of white people trying to sing spirituals.  Not sNoory on the radio sad, but still pretty bad.

Crunchy peanut butter
Strawberry jelly
A paper thin slice of a white onion after being rinsed off with water and dried.

I won't say "good" just yet. Just not obscene.

I remember some Nostradamus shows from back in the old Art Bell days...

There's one more prediction that I have been googling but haven't found it yet....

Nostradamus predicted everything including @Bart Ell riding a motorcycle through the villages of Europe.
