I have mentioned here that I have trained my cats. Two of them know how to shake hands. Actually, I only taught one of them how to shake hands and the other one has learned to imitate him so that she gets the reward as well. My third cat, who is terminally ill, has been taught to lay down on command.
Well, I also have figured out what their meows mean if they want more water or more food or treats or for me to sit down so they can lay on me. Each one of them has a different word for it to me. They have trained me well! Although my terminally ill cat has lost some of his vocal ability, it has been hard for me to understand what he is asking for of late.
One thing that I also tried to train them is telling them what I'm doing. I will repeatedly say "ear scratch" when I'm scratching their ears and, in a falsetto Yoko Ono-like voice, I will say " chin chin chin chin chin" when they come to me for chin scratches. If I am busy, I will ask them if they want a chin or ear scratch.
I live in a dual nationality home. Japanese is the other language spoken here. No one has said a single thing to me about the word chin... My Japanese is rather rudimentary and I have not learned how to cuss.
Chin, it appears, is the Japanese word for penis.
🤦🏻
PS I did not do Yoko Ono voice because of the Japanese in my house, when I was a teenager, one of my friends used to do the Yoko Ono voice all the time. It's horrible that I still do it, but I will turn that voice on for the cats.
